GHRANTE targets the development of innovative, recyclable inorganic polymer and hybrid binder materials based on slags from the non-ferrous metallurgy. These materials are developed in accordance to the envisaged applications, i.e. roads, tunnels and highways and will have exceptional properties, such as durability, noise reduction and fire resistance.

At the end of the project, Flanders will have (1) a full portfolio of properties and durability data for inorganic polymer-based materials, including proposals for performance-based assessment protocols, originating from non-ferrous metallurgical slags that will be used in (2) value-added tyre/noise and rolling resistance reducing, with high skid resistance and durability and/or fire-resistant prototypes, made of hybrid cements and geopolymer for road, tunnel and building applications.
